The Love Your Neighbourhood Week of Action 2025 has offically opened for registration Register Your Event
This is the second year of the Love Your Neighbourhood Week of Action, which is being held across the district of North West Leicestershire. We would like communities to come together again to Love Your Neighbourhoods between 30 June – 6 July 2025 and take the opportunity to make impactful environmental improvements to the neighbourhoods where you live. We hope the event will help communities build greener, safer, healthier, more inclusive neighbourhoods.
This could be anything from organising a litter picking event in the community, planting in shared spaces, installing communal composting units, helping elderly neighbours with their gardens, holding recycling events, installing hanging baskets to community buildings; anything you can think of that has an impact and gets people involved.
We are recording all the great events organised by community groups, residents and businesses across the district, using this simple registration form. We want to collect information on your events and celebrate volunteers' work.
All you need to do is let us know what you are planning on doing, how many volunteers are taking part and how many hours your event is going to last. Other opportunities on offer:
- Residents can apply for free litter picking equipment, by completing a simple form. Visit https://www.nwleics.gov.uk/pages/litter to become a volunteer litter picker.
- Constituted community groups, parish councils, schools and other not-for-profit organisations can apply for up to 5 litter picking kits, by completing a simple form.
- Constituted community groups, charities, parish councils, schools and other not-for-profit organisations who wish to organise a large event working in collaboration with a number of local groups can apply for the Love Your Neighbourhood grant of up to £500 or for smaller event £100 grant is available to help with the cost of running your event.
Ideas on how to be involved
Community groups, tenants associations, parish and town councils, uniformed groups, PTA's plus many more can get involved by organising a community event in your neighbourhoods.
This could be anything you can think of which has an impact on your environment and gets the community involved. Here are some examples:

- Planting in shared spaces
- Preparing for wildflowers
- Recycling initiatives

Individuals can get involved and register their pledge by working on their own property:
- Take accumulated rubbish to the tip from the front or rear of property
- Trim hedges that have encroaching on pathways
- Gardening
- Litter pick your street
- Help a neighbour out.
