Rawdon Road, Moira
This 10 hectare woodland has been specially designed for children of all abilities. Surfaced paths make it easy for all users to access the wood of native trees and the Ghandi Grove with trees from all around the world.
Gradients are quite gentle, easy for motorised wheelchairs, but the steeper sections may be difficult for manual wheelchairs and push chairs. Benches are located at points along the trails for resting.
It was created by Leicestershire County Council, the National Forest Company and SOS (Stars Organisation Supporting Action for People with Cerebral Palsy).
Located adjacent to the Ashby Canal Basin, it is easy to link to the canal towpath to Conkers, Moira Furnace and Donisthorpe Woodland Park.
There is no barrier along the canal edge so care should be taken.
Opening times: Free car park open daily from 9am – 4pm. There is a 2m height restriction at the entrance.
Admission: Free
Disabled visitors: Access to and around the wood and parking area.
