Who is the session for?

Scheme Delivery:

Active Tots sessions are ideal for families with under 5’s.

Active Tots sessions have been created to promote and encourage physical activity in under 5’s and their parents / carers / guardians through Story telling, Fun and stimulating games, Toddler exercise and physical activities.The aim of the sessions is encourage families to take part in an active lifestyle. The sessions give families the opportunity to develop skills whist taking part in singing, acting, sharing and playing.

What will families get from the session?

All the activities are designed to:

• offer educational development / fun and enjoyment.
• encourage the full integration of families
• be used with individuals, small groups and large groups.

Active Tots supports learning across many areas by:

• enhancing communication skills through the visual and verbal interaction involved in the activities and through the use of key words.
• developing fine and gross motors skills through various movements.
• developing understanding and recognition of colour through equipment and its use in the activities.
• Encouraging children to learn about their bodies and what they can do themselves
• Develops body awareness and promotes the development of good movement patterns.
• Stimulates your child's curiosity, imagination and creativity aswell as physical development.
• Encourages communication through talking, listening and play with your child.
• Encourages and strengthens the relationship between you, and your child.
• Promotes the value of you, the parent doing daily exercise as a role model for your child.
• Promotes the value of giving praise and positive reassurance.

For young children activity is natural - children love to play. It is important for parents and children to play together. Children are delighted to have your company and undivided attention.

All sessions are delivered by trained staff. Free Sessions available for families with under 5's based at Sure Start childrens centres in NWL.
