Project summary
Appleby Magna Parish Council and partners Sir John Moore Foundation and Measham Mobility Bus are joining forces to run a 'Community Media Mini-bus'. With music, film and media equipment it will offer bespoke sessions for the whole community.
The service will provide a high quality mini-bus offering an accessible solution with wheel-chair access, for people with mobility issues, transport needs and tackling social isolation in the local area.
Key is its mixed use ensuring long term sustainability and providing a platform for social interaction between community groups and individuals.
As a media mini-bus it will enable all members of the community to learn new skills with a focus on young people delivering outreach sessions. The unique space will provide a range of facilities and activities in photography, performance, DJ-ing and even a cinema - bringing young and old together.
Outreach trials have taken place and Measham Mobility Bus has been serving the community for over 20 years. The bus will be easily to use, accessible to all and any equipment will be safe and secure.
The bus will be able to be driven by adults from local organisations and training will be provided as part of the scheme. All costs will be covered on a sustainable basis.
