Coalville Conservation Area Local Development Order

Purpose of the Local Development Order

The Council is proposing the continuation of the Coalville Conservation Area Local Development Order (LDO) to facilitate the improvement of identified shop frontages. We have prepared a draft Order to replace the previous Order which expired on 30th November 2024. Please see the link to the formal notice of the proposed LDO below.

What does the Local Development Order do?

It allows for shop front improvement works, as well as certain other works to the affected buildings, without the need for planning permission, subject to the conditions of the Order. Please read the draft Order, available on this page.

Other requirements and permissions may still apply

Other work not covered by the draft Order may still need certain permissions, so please do check with us first.

Although planning permission will not be needed for work covered in the draft Order, you may still need to comply with other permissions such as advertisement consent, building regulations and licensing requirements.

Alternatively, the printed documents are available for inspection at the North West Leicestershire Customer Centre, Belvoir Road, Coalville, LE67 3PD between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays (excluding bank holidays), and between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm on Thursdays (excluding bank holidays).
