UkCoal currently monitor dust emissions from Longmoor Colliery as a requirement of its planning permission.
Longmoor farm was monitored until June 2008 when the monitor was relocated to Ravenstone Primary School as requested by the Longmoor Liason Committee.
An additional monitor was installed at the closest suitable location in Ravenstone, located on Creswell Drive, to better assess the impact on residents.

- UKCoal have recently discovered a fault with the monitor. The Turnkey Topaz monitor is effected by moisture, there is a heater attached to the air intake to drive off moisture. This heater was found to be faulty and was repaired on the 14th July 2010. PM10 levels in the above data are usually elevated during the late evening and early morning which is the period in which mist and dew is likely; and coal extraction was not taking place, it is believed that this is the cause of the elevated levels. UKCoal are continuing to monitor following the repair of the unit to confirm this.
