The ruins stand in a valley bottom bounded by a small brook on the edge of Charnwood Forest and are situated on the A512 road from Loughborough to Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire. The conservation of the ruins has been overseen by the Grace Dieu Priory Trust, a charitable trust company at a cost over half a million pounds which has been obtained from many sources.

Partially restored brick windmill - no sails or fantail. On the Swannington Village and Mining Heritage Trail.
The mill is an ideal focus for an afternoon walk or picnic. Coach parking nearby.

Appleby's primary school occupies a famous building, built three hundred years' ago and based on an original design by Sir Christopher Wren. The building is grade I listed. As well as being a school, the building is used for a variety of activities by the local community.

Ibstock Historical Society

The Society offer a range of services including access to our map and photo archive which numbers in excess of 1200 local images from all the surrounding villages. We stage a History events each year where we're joined byother local organisations with the same aims and provide local history talks to interested groups. We provide research assistance with tracing family trees, archeology finds from the area and we have a number of local history books and calenders available for sale raising much needed funds for local charities and organisations.
