Since 2011 we've had a sexual entertainment venue policy.

The policy was devleloped as a result of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 being amended by the Policing and Crime Act 2009.

The legislation gives us power to licence sex shops, sex cinemas and sexual entertainment venues (SEV).

Although we have set the numbers of SEVs we will licence as zero, this doesn't mean that an application for an SEV will not be accepted. But the applicant would have to demonstrate why we should depart from the policy.

All applications will be determined by a Licensing Sub-Committee.
