Current Consultations
Draft North West Leicestershire Local Plan: Additional Proposed Housing and Employment Allocations for Consultation - 21 March to 2 May 2025
Between January and March 2024, we sought views on our Proposed Housing and Employment Allocations for Consultation document. This latest consultation adds to the 2024 consultation by proposing 13 additional housing sites, one additional employment site and one amended employment site. We are also consulting on two potential ‘reserve’ housing sites.
The consultation document can be found on our New Local Plan webpage.
2025 Call for Sites: General Needs Employment and Lorry Parking
The Draft North West Leicestershire Local Plan: Additional Proposed Housing and Employment Allocations for Consultation document (March 2025) identifies that there could be a shortfall of general needs employment land during the plan period (up to 2042).
We would like to hear from you if you own or control land which may be suitable for general employment purposes or that may be suitable for lorry parking.

Statement of Common Ground with the Leicester and Leicestershire Authorities
We have been working with the other Leicester and Leicestershire authorities to agree how the issue of unmet housing and employment need from Leicester city can be addressed. A Statement of Common Ground and supporting documents have been prepared which can be viewed on the Strategic Growth Plan webpage.
The District Council agreed the Statement of Common Ground at the meeting of Council on 6 September 2022.
